In her 1989 hit, music legend Tina Turner sang,
“You’re simply the best, better than all the rest.” In
the airline industry, being the best is never simple;
it’s incredibly hard.
All airlines share a basic reality: how to get people
and goods from place to place at a price they can
afford without bankrupting
the business. They share
the same fundamental tools:
an expensive, winged tube
latched to sophisticated power
technology. All airlines must
make safety the top priority.
Yet as hard as it is to eke out
a profit against that challenging business backdrop,
there is never a shortage of new competitors eager
to be the next big thing in low-cost air travel.
This is why our 2019 winners are so spectacular.
Each airline winner stands out against its peers in an
increasingly competitive landscape. The leadership
winner is an industry disruptor who saw new ways
to make commercial air travel even more affordable
to even more people. A nonprofit organization has
harnessed the power of this industry and its people to
save lives. And a new airliner has tapped into expanded
market opportunities through innovative business
thinking that has reshaped the aerospace industry.
Congratulations to all our 2019 ATW Award winners.
The ATW Awards will be presented March 26 at a gala
dinner at the JW Marriott Essex House in New York.
